Artificial Intelligence is the pursuit of creating intelligent like behaviour in computer systems. Turing devised a test for Artificial Intelligence, which involves having a person guess if the responses to questions are coming from another person or a computer program. Whilst, Turing's test is not definitive, it is an excellent starting point for thinking about artificial intelligence. And, artificial intelligence as far as basic mathematics is concerned was already with us, pretty much from the advent of computing. The Poised Solutions Tech Library AI (Artificial Intelligence) section contains some of the classics on AI, and contains a number of Psychology books, that reflect an esteem for Alan Turing's notion of AI. Books on Genetic Algorithms and Neural Networks can also be found in the Artificial Intelligence library section. Genetic Algorithms give us the ability to tend solution to the best outcome. Neural networks are used to model very complex relationships, and to find patterns of expression in data. Only recently has AI become more mainstream, though AI has been a facet of Computer Science from the very early days, and is often applied in concert with functional programming.
